Introduction

To setup live streaming of the content, you need to point the streaming encoder to our server. We support live streaming through camera using RTMP feed.  Software Encoder is the best for live streaming because of more advanced features, low price (Even many software encoders available for FREE), easy to update etc. There are many different FREE software encoders are available for live streaming. Here is an example how to live streaming using OBS or Open Broadcast Software.

To live stream any content, first you need to add it to the CMS. You will get the streaming server URL and Stream Key after adding the content. (It will be automatically generated.) You need to configure the streaming server URL and Stream Key in OBS. Then you can start streaming from the camera. You can also record the live streaming content by enabling the recording feature in the CMS.

Note: During the Free Trial period, we only allow to add one Live Streaming content of 15 minutes duration only. 

 

Adding Live Streaming Content

  • Go to “Manage Content--> Content Library” in your CMS and then click on “Add Content “
  • From “Content Types”, select “Video Live Streaming” from the drop down menu (See Below Screenshot)
  • From “Method”, select “Camera
  • In the “Channel Name” section type the name of the channel
  • Select Release/RecordDate from the calendar
  • Type the Genre of the streaming content
  • Select the Content Category from the drop down list. Here you can select multiple category for the same content. Please visit Edit/create content category page for the steps to edit or create category.
  • Under Upload a Poster, click on the “Browse” button to upload a poster for the live stream (See Below Screenshot)
  • If you wish to record a live event then select the the check box for "Enable Recording"
  • Click on “Save & Continue

 

 

  • After you click on "Save & Continue", you will see the options to "Upload Top Banner" and "Add Cast/Crew". 

 

Upload Top Banner

  • Click on “Upload Banner
  • To upload banner from your computer, click on “Upload File”. Select the image from your computer. Resize it and click on “Save”.
  • To select banner from the gallery, click on “Choose from Gallery”. Select the image and then resize it.
  • Finally, click on “Save”.

 

 

Adding Cast/Crew

  • Click on “Add New Cast
  • Type the Cast/Crew Name and select Cast/Crew Type from the drop-down list
  • Finally, click on “Add”. To add another Cast/Crew member, please repeat the process. (To know more about how to manage Cast/Crew please Click Here)

 

 

Live Streaming Using OBS (Open Broadcast Software)

Download and install OBS Studio for your operating system. (OBS Studio is available for Windows 7+, OSX 10.8.5+ and Linux operating system)

1.Open OBS Studio

2.Click on “File-->Settings

3.Click on “Stream

4.In “Stream Type” select “Custom Streaming Server

5.In “URL” box type our streaming server URL

6.Type the “Stream Key” 

Note: Streaming Server URL and Stream Key is automatically generated when you add a Live Streaming content. Streaming Server URL and Stream Key can be obtained from the live streaming content in the Content Library

To get Streaming Server URL and Stream Key,

  • Go to "Manage Content" --> "Content Library" in your CMS.
  • On the right-hand side of the Live Streaming content, click on "Setup Encoding Software".
  • A window will popup with Streaming Server URL and Stream Key information.
  • Copy the URL and Stream Key and paste it in the corresponding fields.

 

 

7.Click on “Apply” and then click on “OK

8.Under "Scenes", click on "+" icon to add new scene. Type a scene name and click on "OK"

9. Select a Scene from the list under Scenes. Then  click on “+” icon under “Sources”to select your source (i.e. Video Capture Device). Select “Video Capture Device” to live stream from camera.

10.Then double click on “Video Capture Device”and select your camera from the drop-down list. (It may be the inbuilt camera of your laptop or an external camera added to your computer)

 

 

How to Start Live Streaming

  1. To start Live Streaming, first you need to go to "Manage Content" -->"Content Library" in your CMS
  2. On the right-hand side of the content, under "Video" click on "Start Streaming" (See Below Screenshot)

 

 

         

         3. Then go to OBS and click on "Start Streaming"  (See Below Screenshot)

  • Now the video streaming from the camera will start and you users can view it on your website.

    Note: If you click on "Start Streaming" in OBS before clicking on "Start Streaming" in your CMS, then you will get an error message. 

 

How to Stop Live Streaming

To stop live streaming, you need to click on "Stop Streaming" in OBS (Currently, this is the only option available to stop Live Streaming). The live streaming will be stopped. (See Below Screenshot)

Note: Due to any reason if the live streaming is stopped for 1 hour, then it will be automatically disconnected from our end.  If "Enable Recording" option is selected, then it will be stopped immediately. To start the live streaming again, you need to click on "Start Streaming" in both CMS and in OBS. 

 

 

Recording Live Streaming

You can record the live streaming content by enabling recording in your CMS. The content will be automatically saved to the Video Library in the CMS when the live streaming is stopped. 

To enable recording, select the check box "Enable Recording" in your CMS while adding/editing Live Streaming content. (See Below Screenshot)

 

 

 

 

Live Streaming Existing Feed (Video/URL) Using OBS

You can Live Stream existing feed using OBS. There are 2 ways to live streaming feed using OBS. Either you can live stream any video stored in your computer or you can use an existing feed URL.

1.Live Streaming Existing Video

  1. Open OBS
  2. Click on  a Scene
  3. Click on "+" icon and select "Media Source" from the list
  4. By default, "Create New" is already selected. (If you have any existing source, you can select the option "Add Existing")
  5. Type a name for your source (It can be any name)
  6. Click on "Ok"
  7. By default, "Local File" is selected.
  8. Click on "Browse" to add the video stored in your computer
  9. Click on "Ok".
  10. To start streaming of the video, click on "Start Streaming"

 

 

2.Live Streaming Feed URL

If you have a feed URL, then you can add it to OBS to live stream it.

  1. Open OBS
  2. Click on  a Scene
  3. Click on "+" icon and select "Media Source" from the list
  4. By default, "Create New" is already selected. (If you have any existing source, you can select the option "Add Existing")
  5. Type a name for your source (It can be any name)
  6. Click on "Ok"
  7. By default, "Local File" is selected. Uncheck this option
  8. In the "Input" field, type the feed URL (For example, http://www.example.com/live/playlist.m3u8 or rtmp://wowzaec2demo.streamlock.net/vod/mp4:BigBuckBunny_115k.mov)
  9. In the "Input Format" field type "video/mp4"
  10. Click on "Ok".
  11. To start streaming of the video, click on "Start Streaming"

 

 

Live Streaming Third-Party Content

You can live stream content from any third-party service provider. The third-party service provider will use the stream URL and Stream key provided by you to point their encoder to our server and stream the content on your website.

  • First, add live streaming content by selecting the "Camera" option in the "Live Streaming Content" form (Please see above in this help article on how to add live streaming content)
  • Obtain the Stream URL and Stream Key as mentioned above in this help article
  • Provide the Stream Key and Stream URL to the third-party service provider. 
  • The third-party service provider needs to point their encoder to our server by using the Stream Key and Stream URL provided by you
  • Your viewers can watch the live streaming content of the third-party service provider on your website
