Video metadata specialist Digitalsmiths published its Q2 2015 Video Trends Report, and found that 57.7 percent of consumers in the U.S. and Canada subscribe to a subscription based video on demand service such as Netflix, Hulu, or Sling TV. This percent shows a 3.3 percent quarter-over-quarter increase. Of the available services, Amazon Prime showed the strongest year-over-year growth (6.0 percent), although Netflix was the clear leader (with 49.4 percent of respondents).
They also found that 56.9 percent of consumers with cable subscriptions also use an SVOD service. Subscribers get a lot out of their SVOD services, with 93.4 percent saying they use theirs weekly, and 33.6 percent saying they watch 1 to 5 hours of streamed content per week.
