Decline in Pay TV subs

According to new consumer research from Leichtman Research Group (LRG), 79% of US TV households nationwide subscribe to some form of pay-TV service.

The percentage of TV households that subscribe to a pay-TV service is on the decline from 84% in 2014 to 79% in 2017.

Two thirds of TV households do not currently subscribe to a pay-TV service, about 2/3rds were pay-TV subscribers in the past and 1/3rd never had pay-TV.

Some more findings from the report:
7% of TV households subscribed to a pay-TV service over 3 years ago, 7% never subscribed to a pay-TV service.

29% of TV households with annual incomes less than $50000 do not subscribe to a pay-TV service.

30% of those that moved in the past year do not currently subscribe to a pay-TV service, higher than previous years.
39% using one TV at home are non-subscribers, compared with 24%.
