According to Cisco’s 11th annual Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast (2016 to 2021), 5.5 billion of the global population will be using mobile phones, more than the bank accounts (5.4 billion), running water (5.3 billion) or landlines (2.9 billion).
Due the strong growth in mobile phone usage, IoT connections, internet speeds and video consumption, mobile data traffic is expected to increase by seven-fold over the duration of next five years.
