Netflix becomes the top earning non-game mobile app

According to a report, Netflix registered a gross subscriber revenue of nearly $510 million in 2017, representing a 138% increase in total user spending in the app since 2016.

The number which is about 2.4 times the previous year’s, has made Netflix, the highest grossing non-game app on Apple’s store. However, on Google Play it ranks second below HBO Now.

Tencent Video escalated to the fifth position from its ninth position in 2016 and stood on the third position on Apple’s App Store in 2017. Also owing to the non-availability of Google Platform in China, Tencent struggled to make it to the top 10 on Play Store.

In 2016, the app download research was topped by Spotify.
