Apple responds to Spotify with a new dashboard for artists

Roshan Dwivedi Published on : 25 January 2018

In response to arch-rival Spotify’s products for artists, Apple has launched a new dashboard which will allow artists on Apple Music to track fans’ listening and buying habits. The dashboard is called Apple Music for Artists and is available to select beta users before it gets a bigger launch later.

In April 2017, Apple had launched its own artist dashboard out of beta, which allowed artists to dive into streaming insights and analytics, manage profiles, etc. Apple’s advantage with its fresh dashboard is that it tracks both streams and purchases at a granular level.

While Spotify came up with a dedicated app for artists, with access to similar data, including real-time data on new releases, Pandora also has a dashboard that allows artists to connect with their fans using short audio messages, or to alert them about new releases, live events, ticket offers, etc.
