Number Of SVOD Households To Cross 300 Million by 2020

A recent report from Digital TV Research is all set to make Netflix, Hulu and the whole clan go nuts with joy. As per the report, the number of SVoD homes is predicted to reach 306 million in 200 countries by 2020, gaining massively from its minuscule 28 million in 2010 and a whopping 197 million by the end of 2015 alone, clocking a 42 million growth this year.

The report named ‘Global SVoD Forecasts’ also claims an addition of about 145 million SVoD subscribers in 2015-2020, up by 90 per cent. While China registers a growth of 20 million subs, US will add an extra 22 million, Japan 9 million and India in the excess of 7 million.

Among subscription VOD services (SVoD), Netflix is predicted to have 115 million paying subscribers by the end of 2020, generating 44 million subs in 2015-2020. In US only, Netflix will gaing 50.4 million subs in the US by 2020, going up by 7 million on 2015.
