In Mexico, OTT platforms are helping the telecom sector. Demand for better broadband network because of increase in demand for video streaming, is creating a bigger market for data. OTT services have grown by 60% in 2015 and have raked in $470 million. Pay-TV, surprisingly is also on the rise, having grown by 11.3%. The OTT industry of 22.7 million subscribers is majorly driven by Netflix.
For the telecom industry, mobile data makes more money than fixed line services. Overall video accounts for 15% of their revenues currently.
