Virtual Reality is trending, and YouTube brings everyone one step closer to it. Two new features have been added to the leading video streaming platform – 360-degree live streaming & spatial audio. Music mega event Coachella will be the 1st to take advantage of this immersive streaming experience.

360-degree supporting cameras like select GoPro cams will be required to create content for this platform. Maximum supported resolution is 1440p 60fps – hence better than HD. Complementing the 360-degree immersive experience is the spatial audio that will give a more realistic feeling to the ears. In the words of YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan – “where depth, distance and intensity all play a role,”. 360-degree videos will be available as on-demand first, and on Android.
