Define your own encoding format, video resolution, and security
With encoding profile, you get to choose the output formats, resolutions, and security of the content you want to deliver to the end-users. You can set up one or more profiles and personalize how your video content should be encoded. This will let your end-users access the content only at the resolutions and formats of your choice.
In general, every video content that you add to your content library is encoded and transcoded before being accessed by the end-users. After being transcoded, videos will be played for end-users at the best resolution based on their network speed and connectivity.
As your video content is transcoded into all the resolution formats, the storage space eventually increases and, thereby, the storage cost. Having multiple encoding profiles helps you save on costs and provide an optimized user experience.
You can set up more than one encoding profile in the CMS portal and set one profile as default. Once you add a video to your library, the video will automatically be encoded based on the default encoding profile. You may also switch among the profiles at any time as per your needs.
Configure everything that needs to be done once a video is uploaded right from the output formats and resolutions to Digital Rights Management (DRM). For example, you may choose to set a profile, say A, for videos in 720p and 1080p and in both HLS and MPEG DASH formats without enabling DRM. And, another profile, say B, for videos in low resolution such as 144p and 360p and output format in HLS with DRM enabled. It’s completely customizable.
For each profile that you create, you will be able to configure the output formats such as HLS, MPEG DASH, or both. You can also choose multiple resolution formats, such as 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, up to 4K, for the video content.
With encoding profiles in place, you have full control over the content resolutions that are made available to the end-users. So, you can select your preferred resolutions and save the cost for storage and bandwidth. Encoding profile gives you the option to opt-out from DRM for content, thus letting you save extra on costs.
You will be able to choose high resolutions for premium video content and normal or low resolutions for other videos by creating a profile for each category, thus delivering an optimum experience to every user.
