According to an Ovum study, there will be 1 billion mobile broadband connections in Africa by 2021, including 157.4 million 4G LTE connections. The research also found out fixed broadband connections to also increase significantly over the coming years, from about 13.78 million in 2016 to 19.97 million by 2021.
The research also stated that the mobile subscriptions in Africa will cross 1 billion by the end of 2016. The number of LTE connections will keep increasing but DSL will remain dominant, accounting to about 70.7% of African fixed broadband connections by 2021.
