According to a recent research from The Diffusion Group, the role of smartphones in total video viewing is set to increase tremendously over time. The mobile per capita use in USA currently stands at 8.6 hours a week, as compared to the 8.2 hours spent in watching broadband video. Social networking comprises of 4 hours of screen time a week, out of which 2.5 goes to services like Instagram.
The usage of social mobile video is increasing and thus, many giants are now considering investing in video streaming services over social media. The forecast states that social mobile video viewing will grow from 684 million minutes daily in 2016 to 7.4 billion in 2025, up by 43%.
