Dutch publisher and media group Telegraaf Media Groep and ITV-owned producer and distributor Talpa have confirmed plans to launch two video streaming platforms this year. The Dutch publisher’s OTT director Mandy van der Wal said the group is working on concepts for sports and news channels.

Advertisers have been asked to test out the format for three months, ahead of a planned launch later this year. Staff of the Telegraaf newspaper and its other publications will contribute to the channels. The OTT move positions TMG and Talpa as rivals to traditional and pay TV players in the Netherlands. Talpa already has a foothold in linear TV, while TMG is best known as the publisher of De Telegraaf newspaper.
