Video on demand and other exclusive services are becoming a sales differentiator for smartphones. Samsung has tied up with VOD operator VuClip to provide exclusive access to its content on their devices. Micromax, another leading handset maker in India has tied with 10 services to provide health, travel, payment related access on their phones. The latest in the region being LeEco, that is promising to provide hours of video on demand services.

“We now live in a world where better features and superior hardware like bigger RAM and screen sizes are no more a differentiator. Companies need to differentiate themselves by what they offer the consumer and the entire experience that users get by using the devices,” said Faisal Kawoosa, general manager at CyberMedia Research.
