Migrating from Vimeo: A Step-by-Step Guide
Muvi team will help you at every step while doing the migration. Whole process takes 2-4 weeks depending on the complexity of the data and source platform.
Preparing Your Vimeo Content
Review the content and metadata to be exported from Vimeo. Compile metadata like titles, descriptions, tags, and categories into a spreadsheet given by Muvi for easy reference. Download any captions or subtitles associated with your videos. Note: Make sure you have Vimeo Pro or higher plan.
Set Up Your Muvi Account
If you haven’t already sign up, for a Muvi account. Familiarize yourself with the platform and its features to better understand how to organize your content. Navigate through Muvi’s dashboard to get accustomed to the various tools and settings.
Vimeo Data Sync or Custom Script
Get the folder information from Vimeo where your content resides. Once you get the folder ID, complete folder will be synched to Muvi automatically. If the data does not fall under the default set of configurations we will create a custom script for importing the content and metadata.
Migrating Users & Metadata
Users will be imported through CSV or Excel file using custom script, all imported users will have the new default password as per preset string pattern. As mentioned in the first step, one we have all the metadata files ready. Muvi team will help in importing all the files containing content metadata, subtitles & captions.
Migrating Subscribers & Payment Info
Since this is critical data, your Vimeo payment gateways must support this. A replica of plan & subscription will be created in Muvi Account prior to migration. A re-authorization will be required from all subscribed users. Muvi will fetch user subscription details with card authorization token and basic card information.

Once the migration is complete, we conduct thorough unit, system, volume, and batch application tests to ensure all data is accurately migrated, secure, and properly located.
