Netflix is considering allowing downloading shows on its app. This would mean the content can be accessed offline too, like YouTube allows on some videos. Netflix’s expansion into countries having not as good internet connectivity can benefit from this. This would also help Netflix gain more users, users who prefer watching downloaded content while commuting.

On questioning about offline streaming, Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings said “We should keep an open mind on all this… as we expand around the world where we see an uneven set of networks, it’s something we should keep an open mind about,”
