Redbox, the kiosk-based movie and TV show rental service is set to launch a digital video-on-demand (VoD) a la carte service. The service is now in beta testing and will allow consumers to rent or buy a single movie or TV show through a transactional video-on-demand (TVoD) model.

The service will be priced at $3.99 for 48-hour video-on-demand rentals and $9.99 for individual movie/TV sales.

Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox, said, “Redbox provides our customers with choice – the value they want and expect from our kiosks, the instant gratification of On Demand rentals and purchases, and the availability of new-release content, all without monthly subscription fees.”
