Google adds another feather on its cap- it has ventured into the Entertainment Space—a unified hub for streaming video, games and books exclusively for Android tablets. It will combine access to movies, shows, videos, games, and books.
How will This Work?
This is how Entertainment Space will work- It is going to aggregate content from multiple SVoD or subscription services and provide user profiles. Additionally, the ‘Watch’ tab lets users flip between streaming services, where they can search for their favorite movies, TV shows or rent or buy from Google TV. Users can also view recommended videos from YouTube, and the ‘Continue Watching’ row lets users get back into a show they were previously watching.
What’s interesting is, Entertainment Space will serve personalized and trending recommendation rows from Twitch, Google TV, Hulu and other services. The app also keeps track of activity and serves recommendations for games and books from Google Play. These features will certainly keep viewers engaged on their Android tablets as they will be getting a lot of content on the same platform without the need to look for different content at different places.
Where will the App be Available?
Starting this month, Entertainment Space will be available on Walmart onn. tablets. However, Google is thinking of rolling out the app globally on new and select existing Android tablets from Lenovo, Sharp and other manufacturers, later in this year.
Wrapping Up,
When in 2020, Google TV debuted on the new Chromecast, it announced that the experience will eventually arrive on many more devices in the Android TV ecosystem including 2021 smart TVs from TCL and Sony. Google spokesperson was also of the opinion that over time, all new retail devices running the Android TV OS will get the Google TV experience.
