According to Nielsen Total Audience Report, in the past year, as many as 8.8 million U.S new households have added connected TV devices and the total count has reached 69.5 million, which accounts for 58.7% of all US homes.

The report focussed on the growth of connected-TV devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Google Chromecast, smart TVs, and video game consoles. The report found that 13.4 million homes have only a smart TV and the average time spent by an American adult on a consuming media is 10 hours, 48 minutes. While live TV consumption has gone down by 14 minutes from last year, only to indicate that preference has been shifting away from the TV set to other multimedia devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
