Amazon.com Inc. and Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel have collaborated to provide free one-year subscription of Prime services to postpaid customers of Airtel. Customers of Airtel V-Fiber broadband can also avail the subscription.
The partnership is sort of a strategic move from Amazon as it wants to rapidly penetrate the Indian market with the help of Airtel who has 946.66 million subscribers under its belt. Amazon is optimistic about the partnership and hopes it will help Amazon understand the local population and their preference better.
The partnership will help Amazon refine its current strategies for the Indian market and it can also enrich its content library with customized Prime videos, which will resonate better with Indian subscribers.
According to Amazon, Prime members are more loyal and spend double the amount spent by non-Prime members. This is the reason why the company is focused on promoting the service in India.
