According to Digitisation Report 2017, 25.2 million households in Germany receive HDTV which corresponds with the growth of the share of HD homes in Germany from 53.1% to 65.7% within a span of 1 year.
Also more than a third of the German population use video on demand services.
The transition to DVB-T2 HD on DTT that occurred in urban areas has been a reason for the rise in HD consumption in Germany.
7.4% of German TV households use DTT, followed by IPTV that grew to 6.9%.
Cable and Satellite occupied top spots with 45.9% and 45.7% respectively.
Viewers in the age group of 14 to 29 years prefer VOD over classic TV. 45% of video usage is VOD, 38% is TV. 71.3% use VOD services.
