Report and Forecast shows Germany as a hotbed of OTT competition, drawing from the strength of broadcast catch-up, itself driven by the early introduction of HbbTV in Germany from 2009. This has stimulated greater uptake in TV Everywhere and in pure play paid OTT services.

The result is a thriving community of OTT services, unlike anything else in Europe, rife with competition and innovation.

The report also says that from 72.9 million regular OTT video users at the end of 2015, this total will rise to 116.9 million by 2020, with many of the 37.5 million German households using several OTT services.
