According to a recent report by Italy’s Institute for Competitiveness (I-Com), the number of SVOD service subscribers should exceed 2 million by the end of 2016, from that of 7,00,000 recorded at the start of the year. Over a third of Italians access online video streaming services (36%) from an average of 2-3 different devices.
Revenues recorded from the sector were between €50 million and €95 million in the country. A significant boost has come from the launch of Netflix in October 2015, which had 2,80,000 subscribers just after three month of its launch.
