European SVOD Consumers ditching Pay TV 13 September 2016

According to Guy Bisson, research director at Ampere Analysis, among some 26 million SVOD subscribers in the big five European markets, 36% believe that they will not need linear TV in the next five years. There has also been an emergence of SVOD only homes in the entire Europe region amounting to 6-8% of the entire TV markets.

50% of the SVOD only homes have ‘Gen-Z’ age group, which is more inclined towards non-linear consumption. This generation is driven by Sports and Movies and they always find better options in VOD platform services than any linear TV channel.
