According to a recent report by Juniper Research, subscription video on demand revenues will double up from $14.6 billion this year to reach $35 billion (€31 billion) by 2021. However, the market leader Netflix’s model may become a little difficult to sustain.

The report states that the price rise in Netflix’s services due to its big international expansion this year, may give ground to other services such as Hulu in the local US market and Amazon internationally. The research also stated that the growth in OTT will lead to five fold increase in data usage between 2016 and 2021 as uptake of 4K video will increase file sizes.
