According to reports, streaming giants Netflix and Amazon Prime who are making waves across the globe are yet to leave a solid mark on the world’s second-largest market, India.
India has emerged as the second-largest internet market in recent years and holds significant importance for OTT leaders, Research says.
Despite creating buzz about their respective original contents, both the video streaming platforms are yet to match with the leading player in the country Hotstar. Owned by Star India and managed by Twenty-First Century Fox, Hotstar had about 70 percent of the on-demand local streaming services market earlier this year and has almost 150 million monthly active users under its belt. On the other hand, Netflix has fewer than one million subscribers in the country.
