Marlburians are churning through data watching videos and television shows online. Latest national figures from Spark show average monthly data use per household had grown 29 per cent, from 42.5 gigabytes in February to 55Gb in April. The surge in usage comes as more consumers experiment with online television and movies.
Brad Clark, of Blenheim business BP Computers, said over the past six months he had seen a big increase in the number of people using Netflix and other online video solutions.
“Everyone’s getting home and watching television on the internet.” The number of devices that people could connect to the internet on had increased over time, Clark said. “From every angle the demand for data is going to increase and keep increasing.
