A report by the Competitive Intelligence Unit (CIU) has revealed that streaming platforms are Mexico’s fastest growing players are streaming platforms that are almost equivalent to cable TV’s share.

Mexico’s over-the-top (OTT) services accounted for 7 million subs by the end of Q1 2017, a rise of 24.1% year-on-year. Satellite TV and cable dominate this market with 11.2 million subs and 8.6 million subs respectively.

According to the report, the video distribution market reached an income of $1.5 billion in the quarter, 10.3% of which was generated by OTT platforms. Satellite TV accounted for 59.2% and cable TV represented 30.5%. Read More
