The subscription streaming services along with TVOD (Transactional Video-On-Demand) has made consumers set a new record in home entertainment in 2018.
Last year, consumers had spent a total of $23.3 billion on home entertainment which is calculated to be a 11.5% hike from 2017. SVOD (Subscription Video-On-Demand) services, especially Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu, made a gain of 30% year-over-year which helped the industry reach at $12.9 billion.
For the digital purchases of movie, TV shows, or other contents, an estimate of $2.46 billion was spent by the consumers in 2018, a 14.4% rise from 2017. On the other hand, $2.09 billion was spent for on-demand video streaming.
Expenditure on TVOD was around $4.55 billion, 10.5% hike from that of 2017.
