Spotify is all set to enter the music streaming market of India through the global content licensing deal with the country’s leading music and film firm T-Series. This will not only let Indian listeners stream Spotify’s music, but it will also allow the global users of this audio streaming platform to get access to over 160,000 songs from the catalog of T-Series.
This deal has ensured worldwide exposure to the Bollywood and regional movie songs along with music pieces of independent artists.
Reportedly, several discussion was going on over this deal as Spotify was negotiating with other top labels of India as well. Finally, the global audio streaming mammoth inked the deal with T-Series.
“One of the ways Spotify has helped revolutionize music discovery is through its ability to connect millions of fans with the best music and artists from all over the world in a way that just wasn’t possible before streaming. Today’s deal with T-Series significantly strengthens our Indian music catalog, bringing Bollywood to more than 200 million Spotify users worldwide. Having T-Series on Spotify is hugely significant and shows our commitment towards providing the very best music for our users,” commented Paul Smith, Director, Head of International Licensing at Spotify.
