Walmart signs partnership deal with MGM to boost VOD offering

American multinational retail corporation, Walmart has collaborated with U.S. movie studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer to create content for its VOD service, Vudu. Walmart has been looking to launch its subscription streaming video service to rival streaming giants such as Netflix and Hulu. With the launch of its video-on-demand service, Walmart makes a foray into producing TV shows to attract more customers.

Justin Rushing, Walmart Spokesman was quoted as saying to Reuters, “Under this partnership, MGM will create exclusive content based on their extensive library of iconic IP (intellectual property), and that content will premiere exclusively on the Vudu platform.”
