My Story: Shubham Arun Nayak

You were our Hackathon winner. Did you think at that time to join us as an employee?

When I was a Hackathon winner, I had experience with PHP, so, I thought of choosing PHP (language) for the hackathon. Although it might not be the right choice then, I wanted to check my capability and so; I decided to go for Python (Django framework). It was totally new to me and I didn’t have any experience, but still, I changed my language of choice. On the day of the hackathon, I saw many people talk about newer technologies like AI or Cloud, and AWS Even at that moment, for a second I had made up my mind that even though I may not be able to compete with them, but I can still give in my 100% and the rest is history.

And when I got the offer letter to join MUVI as a full-time employee, I was in seventh heaven. Those were some exciting and happy times. Even before I was an employee of MUVI, I kept participating in their hackathons, and I have also shared career openings posts with my seniors. And finally, when I got the chance to work here, I was ecstatic.

How is the journey till now?

From the initial days, my team has been very supportive. My manager and my colleagues are very helpful. They rectify my mistakes and make me understand the process and manage them in the SCRUM. They also motivated me to take up complicated tasks and finish them for timely delivery.

You got promoted just in the span of one year due to your hard work and commitment. And now you are heading a team. Kindly share your feelings about it.

At first, when I heard about my promotion as a manager to lead the team, I was anxious about how will I be able to manage to do so, because I did not have that much experience in the industry.

After having a discussion with my manager, I was confident. It was a great moment for me because, within a span of 10 months at MUVI, I was able to achieve the promotion. On the personal front, the promotion motivated me to invest in a small property for my family in Bhubaneswar.

How easy is it to work with the rest of the team?

Working with the rest of the team is quite easy and pleasant because we don’t have a boss/sir culture. I was assigned to work in the ‘Muvi 5’, where I got a chance to work with Prakash, Niharika, Sandeep Sethi, Subhasmita Dalai, and Manas Ranjan Sahoo. It was indeed a pleasure working with them and had a great learning experience. They helped me throughout the project.

What are your future plans with MUVI?

I want to give 100% of my efforts to MUVI and would like to continue here for a long time and build more features to bring more success to the company.
