According to a report, considering the unbundling of cable TV packages, almost all major TV network will launch OTT platform by 2022.

The OTT powered direct-to-consumer services will be built on the services that have already been launched such as HBO Now, Starz, CBS All Access, Showtime etc.

The report also claims that major TV networks by going digital will boost the direct-to-consumer subscription to 50 million by 2022.

Mike Berkley, Senior Advisor and author of the report, quoted, “Big media companies are reacting more boldly to changes in TV viewing behavior,” Berkley added. “Consolidating, bulking up on originals, and marketing directly to consumers are driving their strategic direction.”
