According to reports, 23% of U.S. Amazon Prime Subscribers stated that they would definitely cancel their premium membership of the SVOD platform if it wasn’t included in their subscription. Those survey results are in line with leaked data about Amazon originals that indicates they contributed about 5 million new Prime members between 2014 and 2017 which is one-quarter of all new members during that period, according to estimates.

Although Amazon Prime Video had some 90 million subscribers in the U.S. compared to Netflix which had nearly 55 million, the latter remains significantly more popular than the former in the United States. According to reports, viewers opined that they would watch more Prime Video if it had better content to offer.
