The arrival of the first COVID wave and lockdown contributed to an increase in the demand for OTT platforms. Bringing convenience, easy accessibility, and affordability, OTT players were able to switch the demand from traditional pay TV to online streaming. Compared to April 2020 stats of 23 million user count, February 2021 saw an increase of 31 million for the same.

The SVOD model too witnessed a surge of 42% in its revenue this year which was $ 68 million. But with the relaxed COVID rules, the online viewing experience saw a dip of 6% less. However, with the second COVID wave emerging presently it is most likely that the numbers will rise once again.
