The BBC will supposedly be launching video streaming service in collaboration with European public service broadcasters to compete with the US VoD giants such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc.
In the US, BBC is already streaming British contents with Britbox, an SVoD service running jointly with commercial network ITV.
Though BBC has not yet spoken up about the upcoming collaborations with European broadcasters; but they have stated, “We and other public service broadcasters care passionately about homegrown content because it reflects the type of people in those countries. We want to see the broadcasters thrive and, of course, other countries in the EU want to see them thrive in a fast-changing market.”
