Canal+, the French Pay TV operator is all set to launch two new video-on-demand (VoD) channels namely Ciné+ Horreur and Ciné+ Western.

The idea is quite evident from the name itself. Canal+ is eyeing to boost its OTT business by offering thematic channels organized by genre and created by the Cine+ editorial team.

The new online streaming channels will be available without additional charge to Canal+ subscribers. The move follows the collapse of SVOD service CanalPlay which CEO Maxime Saada has blamed on restrictions placed on the operator by French regulators in the face of competition from US SVOD platforms including Netflix.
