Here comes the biggest deal of this time. AT&T has bought the entertainment giant Time Warner in a deal $86BN. In the terms of takeover, Time Warner shareholders will receive $107.50 per share including Time Warner’s net debt. The companies are currently determining which licences subject to rule by US regulator the FCC will transfer to AT&T in connection with the transaction.
The merger will lead the giants with an exclusive market-leading portfolio of assets in telecom, internet and satellite assets, along with a host of services clubbing together. These include These include HBO TV, and various film and television production and distributions including the Harry Potter and DC Comics, and TV series including Big Bang Theory and Gotham.
