The Walt Disney Company is speaking to telecommunications companies as it eyes launching a subscription video on demand (SVOD) service in the already crowded Australian marketplace.

According to The Australian Financial Review, Disney is looking at making Australia is second direct move into streaming after launching DisneyLife in the UK in November, where it offers more than 300 movies, and more than 2000 episodes of its popular series. It costs 9.99 GBP per month in the UK, and is available on its website, Apple and Google Play.

The move would be a challenger to Foxtel cable which has four dedicated Disney channels on its service.
