According to an industry report, video streaming is China is booming with a large user base and a growing number of paid OTT platform subscribers. As of June, the number of video streaming service users reach 514 million, accounting for 72.4% of China’s internet population.
The 2016 report says watching online video has become the primary means of online entertainment in China, tailed by online gaming and reading literature. The report also shows that 35.5% streaming users paid for content this year, rising 18.5% points year-on-year. It is the fastest annual growth in recent years. Most paid users are monthly subscribers.
