Following the trend of staying connected to users via WhatsApp, Netflix has partnered with the instant messaging service and both have confirmed the development. WhatsApp affirmed that Netflix is one of its test partners meant for its enterprise solution business model. As a part of this partnership, users will get account messages and suggestions on what to watch. Netflix users must have a WhatsApp account to get the notification.
The Facebook-owned service has a strong user base in India with around 200 million users and it firmly believes that India will play a vital role in its business-oriented solutions. This move is certainly one step ahead of the traditional bulk SMS model and another feather on WhatsApp Business Programme. Prior to Netflix, movie and event ticketing service BookMyShow was one of the first batches of businesses to opt for the same. As a part of its business programme, WhatsApp has spotted testing its business models with banks and airlines as well.
