Netflix is launching a production house specifically dedicated for creating originals within Canada, with a 5 year $400 million budget.
It is the first-of-its-kind production company for the streaming giant outside the US.
Netflix will continue to collaborate with Canadian producers, production houses, broadcasters, creators, and other partners for creating original Canadian content in both English and French.
This kind of investment will give Canadian producers and creators will have more access to financing, business partners, and means of connecting with global audiences.
Going forward, Netflix plans to invest $15.7 billion in content development going forward with $6 billion spent this year itself.
