YouTube is surging ahead of other video streaming sites in terms of traffic. With 174 million unique visitors, it was way ahead of the 84 million of Facebook. Yahoo! witnessed 56 million visitors, Vimeo got 47.1 million, CBS Interactive received 45.6 million and NBC Universal got 45.1 million. All these numbers are for the month of January. It is estimated that the revenues from YouTube must have been around 2 billon USD. With ad prices falling, YouTube is facing what is essentially an oversupply issue. Getting paid subscribers is another challenge, as that is dominated now by Netflix and Amazon.
