As per research from the Diffusion Group, binge viewing in the US is increasingly becoming universal, with 9 in 10 adult broadband users in the country bingeing at least occasionally.
The analysis further categorizes three groups of adult broadband users (ABUS) in terms of their binge-viewing habits and includes the following:
>> heavy bingers who binge daily and comprise 14% of ABUs; medium bingers that binge on video monthly but not daily consisting of 51% of ABUs, light/non-bingers that make up 21% of ABUs that binge less than a month and 14% that do not binge at all.
>> Appetite of binge on boxsets is growing as per a study from UK broadcast regulator Ofcom and it reveals that the frequency of binge viewing leans strongly in favor of younger adults.
>> TDG analysts found that the frequency of bingeing is strongly related to the viewer’s age.
>> For instance, 58% of heavy bingers are between 18 and 34 whereas 56% of light/non-bingers are 45 and older.
