Facebook adds video streaming tab to mobile apps

Roshan Dwivedi Published on : 11 April 2016

Facebook sees 100 million hours of video streaming every day. The apps now have a dedicated tab for videos at the bottom. Facebook is optimistic about live streaming potential and is hence adding a lot of features to it. It is now possible for users to search and access live & archived videos from friends, pages, or public broadcasters.

With this update, Facebook levels up the field for Periscope and YouTube. With Facebook, the advantage is that users come to the platform to discover and look to read or watch content, whereas in case of YouTube, people visit only a specific search need. For advertisers, both platforms have worked well. Monetizing schemes are expected to be aggressively priced.
