Educational on-demand streaming video service, Kanopy is teaming up with Coralville and Iowa City public libraries to make online video streaming accessible to the community members. Kanopy has more than 30,000 films, specializing in documentaries, independent films, international cinema, educational videos, documentaries, classic, and early films.

The residents of Johnson County cities, including Lone Tree,Coralville, Iowa City,Hills, and University Heights can use the service on Apple and Android devices, Roku, Google Chromecast, and Amazon Fire devices.

Brian Visser, Teen Services librarian, Iowa City Public Library, quoted, “There were things I was seeing there that I really wanted to watch. The taste of this community tends to lean in that direction, and the kind of movies they show at FilmScene are a lot of the same kinds of things that probably will end up on Kanopy eventually.”
