87% Russians think sharing pirate content is legal

According to a recent consumer survey by Irdeto, some 87 percent of Russian consumers stated that producing or sharing pirated video content is not illegal and some 66 percent in fact believed that streaming or downloading pirated content is legal.

However, unauthorised copying, broadcast, distribution or reproduction of copyrighted content, including audio-visual content, is unlawful in Russia as it is in most countries around the world. Some 57 percent of those who were surveyed stated that they actively watch pirated content, with some 22 percent watching it once a week.

In this webinar, SVTA CEO Jason Thibeault will take a look at some of the more prominent vectors, techniques and tips to mitigate potential problems, and discuss the recent SVTA Security Working Group publication, “OTT Streaming Security Checklist.”
