According to a recent eMarketer report, the total numbers of U.S. digital video viewers are set to increase from 221.8 million in 2017 to 239.2 million by 2021, while the internet penetration rate will increase from 81.2% to 83.5%, during the same forecast period.
The growth will translate to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.6% from 2015 to 2020. Meanwhile, pay-TV viewers will decrease by a CAGR of 1.1% during the same time period. The report concluded that the digital video viewership will continue to grow at least through 2021 outperforming display ads online.
