According to the latest data from SES, European consumers are buying more into the Ultra HD concept. The report states that Europe now has around 17.3 million UHD screens (6.6 % of homes as of year-end 2016), up from 12.1 million a year previously.
According to more data from IHS Markit, Western Europe alone will see some 11.8 million UHD sets shipments, typically with some 32 % at 50” or over. Eastern Europe will see around 3.88 million additional units shipped. Even the MEA region, where UHD broadcasts are quite rare, will see 2.2 million units expected to be shipped.
