According to Digital TV Research, In Sub-Saharan Africa, over-the-top (OTT) movies and TV content revenues are expected to hit US$640 million by 2022 Over-the-top (OTT) movies and TV content revenues will reach US$640 million in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2022.

South Africa will account for 40% of revenues whereas Nigeria will account for 21%

The driving force for OTT TV and video is Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) which is expected to see an increase in revenues to $475 million by 2022 which amounts to 74% of the total revenue and is 22 times more than the total in 2016.

According to the research survey, there will be approximately 10.12 million SVOD subs by 2022, up from 5,25,000 at the end of 2016 in Sub Saharan Africa. Read More
